Starting from September 19, 2025, and until January 11, 2026, the Salone degli Incanti in Trieste will host the exhibition. Tolkien. Man, Professor, Author ,a retrospective that brings to Trieste the final stage of the traveling exhibition dedicated to John Ronald Reuel Tolkien.
The inauguration marks an unmissable cultural event: Trieste, already a key player in Go!2025!, welcomes the visionary writer of global fantasy.
What you will find at the exhibition
The exhibition is divided into sections that explore the many facets of Tolkien: the Man (his personal life, relationships, and studies), the Professor (his academic work, philology, and language), and the Author (the creation of his most famous literary works).
Among the objects on display:
- Original autograph manuscripts, letters, and documents
- Photographs, memorabilia, and personal belongings
- Illustrations created by artists inspired by Tolkien’s world
- A special focus on Tolkien’s connection with Italy, including travels, translations, and collaborations with Italian scholars
- Sections dedicated to film adaptations and the visual impact of Tolkien’s universe on contemporary imagination
Opening hours and tickets
- Tuesday to Friday: 10:00 – 18:00
- Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 10:00 – 20:00
- Closed on Mondays (except holidays) and on December 25
- Full ticket: €10, reduced: €8 (students, over 65, FVG Card holders, etc.)
- Extended evening openings are planned for special occasions
- The ticket office closes one hour before the public closing time
During the Barcolana weekends and on special dates, the exhibition extends its opening hours until 10:00 p.m., allowing visitors and travelers to combine it with other events in the city.
